Tour Plan
• Early Morning Departure: Depart from Kampala or Entebbe at around 6:00 AM for a scenic drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located approximately 176 km (about 3 hours) north of Kampala.
• Brief Stop: Enjoy a brief stop in Nakasongola for refreshments and to stretch your legs.
Late Morning: Arrival and Rhino Tracking
• Arrival at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary: Arrive at the sanctuary around 9:00 AM and receive a briefing from the experienced rangers.
• Rhino Tracking: Embark on a guided rhino tracking experience on foot. The sanctuary is home to the only wild rhinos in Uganda, and you will have the opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures up close in their natural habitat.
• Wildlife Viewing: In addition to rhinos, keep an eye out for other wildlife such as bushbucks, Uganda kobs, and various bird species.
Afternoon: Lunch and Nature Walk
• Lunch: Enjoy a packed lunch or a meal at the sanctuary's restaurant.
• Nature Walk: After lunch, take a guided nature walk through the sanctuary. Learn about the flora and fauna of the area, and look out for primates, reptiles, and more bird species. The sanctuary is a birdwatcher's paradise with over 300 bird species, including the rare Shoebill Stork.
Late Afternoon: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
• Relaxation: Spend some time relaxing and taking in the peaceful environment of the sanctuary.
• Departure: Depart from Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary around 3:30 PM for your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe.
• Arrival: Arrive back in Kampala/Entebbe by early evening (around 6:30 PM).
