Tour Overview

It is unlikely to find a more accurate depiction of the circle of life anywhere else in the globe. When wildebeest calves are born in the Southern Serengeti, the adventure begins. A visual feast for true wildlife aficionados, thousands and thousands of calves are born within a few weeks of each other as a result of predators like lions and hyenas continuously searching for prey. The herd migrate north into the Masai Mara in Kenya when the drought arrives in May.

Tour Plan

You will depart for the renowned Serengeti National Park, known for its remarkable wildebeest migration. You'll enjoy the view this afternoon with nature's sounds and feelings. You will proceed with the drive towards Serengeti. You'll enjoy game drives en route to the central Serengeti, taking in the breathtaking landscapes and wildlife sightings. You'll arrive at your tented camp in the Serengeti for dinner and an overnight stay at Serengeti Moyo Tented Camp on a full board basis.

Sunrise game drive in central Serengeti, return to the camp for breakfast. After breakfast, set for transfer game drive from central to northern Serengeti with the packed lunch. Arrive in the northern part of Serengeti ready for migration path safari. This is journey of the wildebeests whereas, your experienced Passionate guide will follow and locate the best possible herds that might cross mara river towards masai mara in Kenya. This journey will take a lot of time to track and wait, it needs a lot of patience, having some books and music devices in the car while waiting for the crossing is an idea. Later evening transfer to the suggested tented camp located in northern Serengeti for dinner and overnight.

When the Grumeti River obstacle has been taken, the herd moves further north and starts crossing the next big hurdle, the Mara River, in July or August. The Mara River crossing is where so many iconic Great Migration photos have been taken. After this crossing the herd flocks to the northwest plains and Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. The August – September period is considered being a bad time to visit Serengeti National Park and see the Great Migration as the herd moves into the Masai Mara in Kenya. However, migration patterns show that about half of the herd stays on the Tanzanian side, in the Mara Serengeti area. In this period, smaller herds of wildebeest (well consider small… herds may count up to between 500 and thousands of individuals) frequently cross the Mara River, back and forth, for no apparent reason. This is an excellent time to stay at one of the Serengeti Mara camps.

Optional activities: Hot-air balloon ride Early morning game drive in northern Serengeti with the packed lunch. You will proceed with the drive towards Ngorongoro highlands via central Serengeti. Arrive at Ngorongoro highlands in the afternoon. You may opt to do an afternoon walking in Ngorongoro crater rim. Dinner and overnight at Embalakai Ngorongoro Camp.

This morning we'll be taking you to the next stage of your safari, but you'll also get to enjoy one last game drive along the way. You’ll learn why magical Ngorongoro is unlike anywhere else in Africa. Cloud forests encircle the crater rim, and the view out across the caldera of this former volcano—quite apart from the altitude—will leave you gasping for air. Your drive down a steep trail carries you onto the crater floor, where a unique wildlife offering adds to the sheer beauty of the experience. You’ll share the sunken ecosystem of the crater floor with hyenas, lions, elephants, black rhinos, and hippos. An ecosystem that has formed in the crater in the millennia since the volcano wrought its terrible fury upon the land. It could just be one of your best safari days ever. As we go our separate ways, we've no doubt that you leave us with new friends and with so many wonderful experiences that will live long in your memory. Drop off at Arusha or the airport for your ongoing plan.
