Tour Plan
You will be picked up from the airport by a Lion King representative and conveyed to your accommodation in Arusha where you will overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come. Outpost Lodge, is an oasis of calm and aesthetic pleasure.
In the morning you will be collected from your accommodation in Arusha by your personal Safari Guide for the drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Not only is this park a bird-lover’s paradise with over 400 species of birds, but it is also home to primates such as baboons and blue monkeys and many herbivores such as elephants, hippos, wildebeest, impalas and giraffes. You might even catch a glimpse of the carnivorous inhabitants, such as leopards and lions. Through the pop-up roof of your safari vehicle you will see the landscape changing from lush acacia woodlands to grassy floodplains, where colonies of flamingos and other water fowl can be found on Lake Manyara’s shoreline. After extensive game viewing you will leave the park and head to your campsite, hand picked partners of Lion King Adventures for their quality and peaceful settings. Relax in the ambience of this charming spot while your dinner is prepared for you
After breakfast, you will continue towards the fertile highlands where wheat, coffee and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will be able to see the breath-taking Ngorongoro Crater before traveling onwards to The Serengeti National Park, Serenget, ‘Endless Plain’ in Maa, the tongue of the Maasai, the largest park in Tanzania, home to diverse landscapes and habitats such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah and mountains and all of the creatures there inhabiting. Here, the biggest wildebeest and zebra migration takes place and, depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals on their search for food and water. After an extensive game drive, you will drive to your campsite, in the heart of the Serengeti, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
Today, you will continue to explore the Serengeti National Park. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds can be found in the plains of the south, returning north during the longer rainy season from April to June. Their exact location differs yearly as they migrate according to the rainfalls, but your guide will know where you will be able to see them best. Lurking close by you may even spot some leopards, cheetahs and lions. After a day with the wildlife on the endless plains, you will return to your campsite for your evening meal and overnight stay.
After breakfast you will head out for an en route game drive through the Serengeti. You may spot the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – before embarking on your journey to Ngorongoro Crater. The animals roam freely through the unfenced reserves offering you an uninterrupted game viewing experience. Arriving at the edge of the crater you will have your first glimpse of what awaits you the following day – glistening streams, open grassland and an infinite number of animals. You will spend the night at a nearby campsite.
After a quick stop at the viewing point high up on the Calderas edge, giving a birds eye view of this teeming land of beauty, we descend down onto the crater floor for a full day of wildlife viewing in one of the seven wonders of Africa and most incredible places on Earth. The Caldera, formed with the massive explosion of a volcano three million years ago, is home to 25,000 ungulates and makes a paradisiacal roaming ground for the big five along with over 500 species of bird. After a stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo lake, and more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, we drive up the steep road out of the crater, passing through different climatological zones before our return to Arusha.
