Unwind after your journey, explore the town’s bustling markets, or enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant as you acclimate to the serene ambiance of northern Tanzania.
Note: Starting your safari in Moshi offers several advantages over the common belief that beginning in Arusha is better. First, staying in Moshi provides the impressive view of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. Plus, you can embark on a day trip to the first camp via the Marangu Route. Moshi also offers excellent day trip opportunities, including visits to Materuni Waterfall, the tallest in northern Tanzania, the Kikuletwa Hot Springs, and a top-rated coffee tour showcasing Kilimanjaro coffee, renowned for its quality due to the volcanic soil. Additionally, your last night with Mropean Safaris will be in Arusha, allowing you to enjoy the city’s attractions as well.
After breakfast, set off for Lake Natron, a scenic drive offering stunning views of the Great Rift Valley and insights into Maasai culture. Arrive at Lake Natron, known for its strikingly alkaline waters that draw thousands of flamingos, painting the lake in shades of pink. Explore the lake’s unique landscapes, visit nearby waterfalls, and marvel at Ol Doinyo Lengai, the sacred “Mountain of God.”
Depart early for the Northern Serengeti, traversing remote and scenic parts of the park along the way. This journey takes you through varied landscapes, from rugged hills to sprawling savannahs, as you witness wildlife like giraffes, elephants, and antelopes. Arrive in the Northern Serengeti, an exclusive and less crowded area known for its unique wildlife encounters.
Dedicate the entire day to the breathtaking migration spectacle near the Mara River. Witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras as they brave the perilous river crossing, a dramatic event filled with heart-pounding moments as they face crocodile-infested waters. The Northern Serengeti’s abundant predators, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs, add to the excitement of this iconic safari experience.
Spend another day exploring the Northern Serengeti, maximizing your chances of witnessing multiple river crossings and observing diverse wildlife interactions. Explore different areas, from lush riverbanks to open plains, where predators and prey coexist in a constant dance of survival. This extra day allows for deeper immersion into the magic of the Serengeti during the migration.
After breakfast, journey to Central Serengeti, known as Seronera, an area famed for its abundant wildlife and iconic kopjes. Enjoy an en-route game drive, with opportunities to spot lions lounging on rocks, elephants wandering through acacia groves, and the elusive leopard resting in a tree. This region is at the heart of the Serengeti’s ecosystem, providing endless wildlife viewing opportunities.
Start your day with a morning game drive in Central Serengeti before heading towards Ngorongoro Crater. Along the way, stop at Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological treasure that offers insights into early human history. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a stunning natural wonder filled with diverse wildlife, including rare black rhinos, hippos, and lions. Enjoy a game drive and overnight at a lodge on the crater rim.
Begin your day with an early descent into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive in one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. Explore the crater floor, home to the Big Five and a wealth of other species. After a morning of wildlife viewing, enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater before returning to Arusha. Spend your last evening relaxing or exploring the town’s vibrant atmosphere.
Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to explore Arusha’s local markets, visit a cultural museum, or enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge. Reflect on your incredible journey through Tanzania’s wilderness as you are transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure, concluding your memorable migration safari.
