Be picked up from the hotel in Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for a game-drive safari during the day. Tarangire National park is famous National Park for high population of elephant in Africa. You spend the night in campsite close to Tarangire Park or Lake Manyara Park (Jambo Campsite is most convenient).
Be picked up at the camp in Tarangire/Lake Manyara where we spent the night and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area gate and from there continue driving all the way to Nainokanoka. Have lunch at Nainokanoka and then the actual trek starts. Transfer the equipment from the truck to the donkeys and hike up Olmoti crater. Spend the night at the camp on the rim of Olmoti Crater.
Trek from the Olmoti camp across the Embulbul depression until we reach the second camp at the rim of Empakaai crater. This should take the whole day hike. Local Masai walking safari guide together with donkeys will be escorting you. Dinner and overnight will be on the rim of Empakai Crater.
From the Empakaai camp hike down the crater, explore its base and then hike up. Instead of coming back the same way to spend the night at the same camp, however, we would like to go straight to the yellow acacia campsite. This be possible for those who are good on hiking and if not you will be able to overnight at Nayobi village Campsite.
In the morning trek from the acacia camp to the base of Ol Doinyo Lengai. Here the trekking ends - we do not include the hike up the volcanic mountain of Ol Donyo Lengai. From Ol Doinyo Lengai you will be picked up by a jeep and drive to Lake Natron. In the afternoon do sightseeing in Lake Natron and spend the night in Lake Natron camp site.
In the morning drive from Lake Natron camp to one of the Serengeti National Park gates -Klensi gate, as this seems to be the closest from Lake Natron. Do a game-drive safari in Serengeti during the day and spend the night in one of the camps inside the park (Seronera Nyani Campsite is most convenient).
After breakfast, you will start a new game drive in the Serengeti National Park. In the Seronera Valley you will find wildebeest, zebras, and often lions and other big cats such as leopards and cheetahs. After lunch at a picnic site, you will drive in the direction of the Ngorongoro Crater. As soon as you have reached the edge of the crater, the caldera opens up before you and is a sight to behold. Overnight will be at Ngorongoro Simba “A" on the crater's edge from where you can enjoy this fantastic view as the sun goes down. Dinner and overnight stay at Simba "A" campsite.
Breakfast is at day break before you drive into the crater. Inside the world’s biggest caldera, you cannot fail to be captivated by the rich and diverse wildlife. In the grass steppes and Acacia forest you will find almost every type of animal from the East African Savanna with the exception of topi, massai giraffe and impala. It is also possible in a few hours to see the big five – lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinoceros and leopards. After extensive wildlife watching and a picnic lunch in the crater you will travel to Twiga campsite for your evening meal and overnight stay at the Camp.
Today you will visit the last national park on the ‘Northern Circuit’. The Lake Manyara National Park is known for its ‘tree climbing lions’ which is uncharacteristic of lions. A large area of the park covers the alkaline Manyara Lake which seasonally is visited by large colonies of flamingo and other water birds. On the lake shore you can see elephants, hippopotamus, buffalo, banded mongoose, various antelopes, and gazelles. After plenty of wildlife watching you will be driven back to Arusha for dinner and overnight stay at your Lodge in Arusha Town.
