Tour Plan
You will be picked up at the aiport and driven by private transfer to Arusha, to your booked hotel. Your guide will come and give you an introduction to the whole safari. At noon you will be picked up and driven to the unique cultural centre, 'Cultural Heritage Gallery' on the outskirts of Arusha. The variety of sculptures, masks, furniture, drawings and photos from all parts of Africa on display here is extremely impressive and worth visiting. Return to the lodge for welcome dinner and overnight.
In the early morning we drive to Tarangire. With a game viewing area roughly ten times the size of the nearby Manyara National Park and an exceptionally high concentration of wild animal from July to October, this seasonal Tanzania safari park is a little gem on the northern safari route. Elephants are the main attraction with up to 3,000 animals living in the park during peak months. In the high season there are also many wildebeest and zebras as well as giraffes, buffalo, Thompson's gazelles, warthogs, larger and smaller kudu, leopard and cheetah. Tarangire is also one of the best bird watching destinations in Tanzania. Afternoon return to the lodge for a tasty dinner and overnight.
We drive through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park with a full day game drive. The landscapes of Lake Manyara are difficult to describe in words, and the game drives along the lake provide excellent photo opportunities. Although small, the park offers breathtaking scenery and is known for its huge mahogany trees, giant figs, lush acacia forest, and a growing population of blue monkeys and baboons. Permanent residents of this park also include impalas, giraffes, elephants, and large numbers of buffalo. The lake is also home to large numbers of hippos. The park has a number of special features and is famous for its treeclimbing lions, the flamingos on the lakeshore, and the crested eagle and hornbill. Some additional tours are possible on this day, including a bike ride or a boat excursion. In the afternoon transfer to the hotel for Karatu and dinner.
Today we dedicate ourselves to the UNESCO world natural and cultural heritage, the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro is a collapse crater on the edge of the Serengeti. It was created when a volcanic mountain collapsed at this point. The crater extends over 27 hectares, its rim is over 600 meters high, which makes it practically a kind of Noah's Ark and is inhabited by almost all wildlife species that are native to East Africa. It is one of the very rare places in the entire continent to see the black rhino. Here you will find the greatest concentration of African wildlife. In addition to a river, there are several swamps in the crater, an alkaline lake with a large population of flamingos, a forest and open plains. The caldera consists mostly of open grassland and is the best place in East Africa to see the 'Big Five'. In the afternoon we continue to the Serengeti National Park and end the day with a delicious dinner in our hotel.
A fantastic day in the Serengeti National Park awaits you today. The 'endless plains' of the Serengeti are home to an extraordinarily large number of wildlife in north eastern Tanzania - Tanzania's border turns it into Kenya's famous Masai Mara. Predators viewing here is excellent with around 4,000 lions and large numbers of cheetahs, leopards and hyenas. Other animals frequently found in the park are topi, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, elephant, caracal, serval, bat-eared fox, hyrax, wildebeest, rabbit, warthog, aardvark, giraffe, jackal, mongoose, crocodile, monitor lizard, aardwolf, many types of primates, including baboons and colobus monkeys and over 500 species of birds. In the afternoon return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Today we drive back to Arusha and have the opportunity to visit the Olduvai Gorge along the way. Here the two archaeologists Lois and Mary Leaky researched 'the cradle of mankind' in the 1950s and found the oldest human remains, one of the most important discoveries in the world. On the way we have the option to visit a Maasai village to experience life of these wonderful people living in harmony with nature in Tanzania. Overnight at hotel in Arusha.
You will be driven to the airport early in the morning to fly to Zanzibar. You will be picked up upon arrival and driven to your accommodation in Jambiani on the southeast coast, where you will spend the next four nights. Experience chalkwhite sandy beaches, azure blue sea and a fantastic coral reef. Zanzibar is located in the Indian Ocean and consists of the main islands Unguja, known as Zanzibar and Pemba, as well as countless smaller islands. The island of Zanzibar is blessed with natural beauty and rich culture. Warm, sunny climate all year round. Its exciting story with Arab sultans, Portuguese sailors, slave traders and European explorers have shaped the character of this island with its friendly people in a special way. Not to forget the delicious cuisine with a wide variety of seafood. We can offer you a range of accommodation options in all categories on the island, ensuring that we find the most suitable accommodation for your needs.
You have time to relax here for the next few days. If you want to be active, there are numerous excursions available, including visits to historic Stone Town, Prison Island and spice plantations. There are also a variety of adventure activities to participate in, including hiking, bird watching, windsurfing, kite surfing, sea kayaking, and sailing. The island also has fantastic coral reefs perfect for diving and snorkeling. You might even be lucky enough to spot dolphins, whale sharks, green turtles and at certain times of the year.
Free time until departure. Depending on your flight time, you will be driven back to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) for your international flight home.
