Departure: The journey typically begins early in the morning from Dar es Salaam, allowing travelers to make the most of their time in the park.
Travel Time: Expect a drive of approximately 6-7 hours, covering a distance of around 300 kilometers on a paved road. The journey offers scenic views and insights into local life.
Arrival & Afternoon Safari: Upon arrival at Mikumi, after checking into your accommodation, you'll embark on an afternoon safari. This is a great time to spot wildlife as animals are often more active in the cooler parts of the day.
Wildlife & Scenery: Mikumi National Park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, and buffaloes. The park’s landscape is dominated by the Mkata Floodplain, alongside the mountain ranges that border the park.
Morning Safari: An early start to the day maximizes wildlife viewing opportunities. Morning safaris are ideal for spotting predators as they are more active during this time.
Lunch Break: You'll get back to the picnic area for hot Lunch.
