Tour Plan
After breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel, and drive to the Selous (5-6 hrs). You will take part in an afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. Where you can see plenty of hippos, crocodiles and bird life. Dinner and overnight at Selous Kinga Lodge which is a unique mix of luxurious lodging and an authentic wilderness experience. Situated in the dream reserve offers you a superb hideaway. Located North-eastern part of the Selous Game Reserve on a high bank overlooking the Rufiji River and the plain beyond. The Lodge accommodates guests in 20 comfortable Safari Cottage. Each cottage has twin beds with mosquito nets, en-suite bathroom and a veranda facing the river. The central restaurant provides excellent cuisine. The lodge makes maximum use of local materials, retaining an intimate relationship with the surrounding eco-system.
Full-day game drives to Selous Game Reserve, named after the explorer Frederick Selous. The Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s largest protected wildlife reserve, a UN World Heritage site and a pristine uninhabited area larger than Switzerland. It has the world’s largest number of big game, elephant, buffalo. It also contains wildebeest, eland, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, hippo, leopard and lion. There are about 350 species of bird life. The topography of the park varies from rolling savannah woodland, grassland plain and rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River and its tributaries
After breakfast you will proceed to the next exciting stop of your safari circuit. First you cross a vast and remote part of Northern Selous on some bumpy and partly dusty roads towards Morogoro Town and onwards to Mikumi National Park, where you reach your Lodge in the afternoon. Mikumi Safari Lodge is perched above the trees stretching over the seemingly endless wilderness south west of Mikumi National Park, an ideal place to evoke the true spirit of Africa. After a short rest you go on an afternoon game drive at Mikumi. Depending on your game drive there is time for a dip in the pool before you get ready for the evening. At your camp there is a special feeding area where rare honey badgers and civet cats can be seen in the evening.
Full day of game drives around Mikumi. There is a rich variety bird species as well as large numbers of giraffes, buffaloes and elephants and close to the water holes also lions, leopards and hippos. Furthermore you can see zebras, lions, wild dogs, pythons, hartebeest, wildebeest, elephants, impala, warthog, eland and other antelopes. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety. Mikumi National Park is mostly miombo woodland with gently rolling hills
After breakfast proceed with your safari activities at Mikumi before you return to Dar Es Salaam with arrival in the late afternoon/early evening. You will be transferred to your hotel or air port for catch your flight back home. Breakfast and lunch included.
