Tour Plan
Your adventure to the Masai Mara National Reserve will begin bright and early. Much like the vast herds that formerly swarmed the African plains and woods, the animals here are thriving in relative peace, making this reserve one of the last remaining habitats on the planet. At the very northernmost point of the vast Serengeti ecosystem lies the Mara, a place where every season brings the spectacular migration of thousands of zebras, wildebeests, and the predators that prey on them. You will make it to the sanctuary in plenty of time for lunch, and then spend the afternoon on a game drive to appreciate this wonderful wildlife preserve.
After a long day, you will relax with a delicious meal and a night at the Mara Sopa Lodge.
You will have a packed lunch and set out on a full-day game drive after breakfast. A hot air balloon safari over the Maasai Mara is an optional addition that will allow you to take in the stunning scenery from a whole new perspective. The reserve is home to a wide variety of animals, but its most famous inhabitants are the majestic black-manned lions. As far as game drives in the morning go, it's one of the few spots you can encounter the Big Five. Surprisingly, there are tame cheetahs that will hide beneath cars to avoid the heat, and a few of them will even climb on top of the cars to survey their surroundings for prey. The reserve is a haven for birdwatchers, having recorded approximately 500 species.
You will get the ball rolling on your safari to Serengeti with an early morning game drive in Masai Mara. Exciting wildlife sightings will await you as you leave the national reserve. You will travel to Tanzania's world-famous Serengeti National Park once you finish with the border procedures. You can stop at the world-famous site at some point along the route.
Although the day of driving will be long, the game drives, whether inside or outside the parks, can be amazing, providing rare chances to observe and appreciate animals. You will spend the evening at the camp after a delicious meal.
You'll enjoy an unlimited mileage, fully customizable day of Serengeti discovery. As you make your way up the slope, a stunning view opens up before you—the unending Serengeti. Merging with Kiswahili, the term Serengeti means "endless plains."
Covering an area of about 18,000 square kilometers (6,900 square miles), this park provides a sanctuary for approximately 2 million large mammals, such as hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests. Huge predators such as hyenas, cheetahs, and lions are drawn to the park's abundance of prey as they track the migratory patterns. This rich habitat is home to a wide variety of small animals, including rock hyraxes, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, and African hares. You can see about 500 different bird species in this region.
In the late afternoon, you will go on a game drive on your way to the camp, where you'll have a wonderful dinner and spend the night.
Your safari departs bright and early in the morning, before breakfast, giving you the best chance to see the African savannah at sunrise while also seeing animals in their natural habitat. Witnessing the sunrise over the expansive environment is an awe-inspiring event. You'll bring back some energy for brunch after the game drive at camp.
You will travel to Ngorongoro in the afternoon. It is often considered the Eighth Wonder of the World. There are 102 square miles of floor space within the crater, and the walls are 2,000 feet high. The sanctuary, which houses a wide variety of East African animals, including the endangered black rhinos, gives the impression of being Noah's Ark. Because the volcanic soil and grasses are so mineral-rich, you can see enormous bull elephants with enormous tusks. An afternoon walking safari across the Ngorongoro Highlands is an optional activity.
You'll end the day by having supper and spending the night at the beautiful camp.
You will indulge in a remarkable morning of wildlife encounters at one of the most breathtaking sites on Earth as you begin your day with an early descent into the crater bottom. After your wildlife drive, you'll stop at the beautiful Hippo Lake for a picnic. Before ascending the crater and leaving the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for Arusha, you will have a short game drive after lunch. We can accommodate any ongoing schedule and expect to return to Arusha by around 5 pm.
