You will be transferred to your hotel for check-in and a chance to unwind after your journey. Spend the evening at your leisure, perhaps exploring the city’s vibrant atmosphere, visiting local markets, or enjoying a coastal dinner with fresh seafood. Dar es Salaam is a bustling hub known for its lively culture, beautiful beaches, and historical landmarks.
After an early breakfast, set out on a journey to Nyerere National Park, the largest national park in Tanzania, formerly known as Selous Game Reserve. Upon arrival in the park, you’ll have lunch and later enjoy a scenic boat ride on the Rufiji River. This boat safari offers a unique perspective on the park’s abundant wildlife, such as hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species along the riverbanks. The evening is at your leisure, with the sounds of the African bush creating a perfect backdrop for relaxation.
Spend a full day exploring the vast expanse of Nyerere National Park, known for its remote wilderness and varied landscapes. Morning and afternoon game drives offer exceptional opportunities to see elephants, lions, buffaloes, and even the elusive African wild dogs. The park's landscapes range from dense woodlands to open savannahs and riverine ecosystems, providing a rich diversity of wildlife habitats.
After breakfast, depart for Mikumi National Park, Tanzania’s fourth-largest park, known for its diverse habitats and wildlife. Arrive in the early afternoon and enjoy an introductory game drive to get a sense of the park’s landscapes, which range from vast plains reminiscent of the Serengeti to forested areas. Mikumi is home to a variety of wildlife, including giraffes, elephants, zebras, and an abundance of bird species. Evening relaxation at your camp.
Today is dedicated to exploring Mikumi National Park with both morning and afternoon game drives. The park’s Mkata Floodplain is particularly popular for its excellent game-viewing opportunities, where you might spot lions, leopards, hippos, and wildebeests. The diverse landscape offers various scenic vistas, providing ample opportunities for photography and wildlife spotting. Enjoy a picnic lunch within the park before continuing your adventure in the afternoon.
After breakfast, embark on your journey back to Dar es Salaam. Depending on your flight schedule, there may be time for last-minute shopping or a brief city tour. You will then be transferred to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) for your departure flight or to your hotel for extended accommodation. Reflect on your adventure through Southern Tanzania’s less-explored treasures as you depart.
